Halotherapy: What's All the Hype?

I am sure that many of you have seen salt lamps just about everywhere these days; the grocery store health section, the spa, the gym, the health food store, and the list goes on. So I wanted to know what it was all about. I have done a little reading, but certainly did not know much. Lucky for me my friend Sandy Hinderliter just opened Salt of The Earth Halotherapy Spa right here in Sugar Land! I took the opportunity today (strictly for research purposes of course) to check it out and see what the hype was all about. Halotherapy is a natural (100%) therapy using salt particles to help you with many ailments such as allergies, sinusitis, cough, eczema and more. Essentially it can reduce symptoms and provide relief for many respiratory and skin ailments. How does it work? Well, you sit in an environmentally controlled room while microscopic salt particles are blown into the room. You just sit and breathe, breathe and sit! These tiny particles enter your sinus cavity, travel to the respiratory tract and start to break down the thickness of your mucas. While doing this, it also starts to reduce tissue irritation. Make sense? Yes, it is a bit technical but once you have experienced it you will understand and say to yourself “that makes sense”. I have dealt with sinus infections, pain, inflammation and plain misery for years! So…as my session went on I could actually feel my sinus cavities open up and be able to breathe through my nose a little easier! As my day has gone on I have felt a little better each hour as it continues to open up. Now, I was able to do a 90 minute session because I had an awesome massage at the same time from the amazing AnneMarie Rivera (again research purposes only…how is that for a Friday treat??), but sessions are typically 45 minutes long. Sandy suggests a series of sessions for optimal results, but when I can feel results in one session why wouldn’t I go back? Research project complete! Wherever you are, I highly suggest giving it a try. You owe it yourself and your health! Visit the website at www.saltoftheearthhou.com or Facebook/SaltOfTheEarth.
