DIY Laundry Detergent
Would you believe you could be washing your clothes with about 23 cents a load without have all the harsh chemical ingredients in most name brand detergents? After testing several different recipes, this is the one that has withstood the test of time (believe me, I have 4 little ones at home!).
3 Simple Ingredients
Castile – 1 bar grated
Soda ash – 2 cups
Borax – 2 cups
Where To Buy Them
Castile you can find at Wal-mart for about $3 for 3 bars.
Soda ash (aka washing soda) is available at most pool stores. Leslie’s Pool Supply sales a 5 pound bag for a little less than $20.
Borax is also available at Wal-mart for about $2 a box.
Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup per load depending on the soil level of the clothes being washed.
Add a few drops of essential oils to your batch of detergent to give a your clothes a fresh scent.
